Product description:

Grade 1 and 2 titanium is pure titanium to which no other substances have been added. Grade 1 titanium has the highest formability and the highest corrosion resistance. Grade 2 titanium is slightly stronger, easy to weld and the most commonly used titanium. The most common particle sizes for use in additive manufacturing are: 10-45µm; 15-45µm; 20-53µm; 45-90µm or 63-120µm. The particle shape should be spherical.

Titanium, known for its outstanding properties and wide applicability in critical and advanced applications, is a metal that is commercially available in two main grades - Grade 1 and Grade 2. These grades represent pure titanium, which is valued for its purity, malleability, corrosion resistance and strength. Our Grade 1 and 2 titanium powder is specifically designed to meet the highest standards in industries such as aerospace, medical, chemical processing and beyond.

Grade 1: Highest formability and corrosion resistance

Grade 1 titanium is known for its exceptional formability and high corrosion resistance. It is the softest titanium with the highest ductility, making it ideal for applications where easy machining and shaping are required. Its exceptional corrosion resistance makes it indispensable for use in environments that require long-term resistance to aggressive media, such as those found in marine research, chemical processing and highly corrosive environments.

Grade 2: The balance between strength and ductility

Grade 2 titanium is the most commonly used titanium, known for its optimal balance between strength and ductility. It is stronger than Grade 1 but retains good machinability and weldability, making it a favoured material for a wide range of applications. The combination of strength, corrosion resistance and machinability makes it ideal for the manufacture of durable components and structures in the aerospace, construction and medical industries.

Versatile application options

The versatility of grade 1 and 2 titanium allows it to be used in a wide range of applications. In the aerospace industry, these materials are used to manufacture aircraft parts and components that require high strength and corrosion resistance. In medical technology, their biocompatibility and corrosion resistance enable the manufacture of implants and surgical instruments. In addition, these titanium grades are used in the chemical industry for equipment and reactors that need to be resistant to aggressive chemicals.

Future prospects and sustainability

Grade 1 and 2 titanium not only stands for exceptional performance and versatility, but also supports sustainable development goals. Its durability and corrosion resistance help reduce maintenance requirements and life cycle costs, while its low density contributes to energy efficiency and reduced emissions in transport and construction. The ongoing development in the processing and application of titanium powder promises to push the boundaries of innovation further and open up new possibilities for the industry and beyond.

Conclusion

Grade 1 and 2 titanium powder represents the pinnacle of materials science, offering unrivalled properties for a wide range of demanding applications. From the highest corrosion resistance and formability to the optimum balance between strength and ductility, these grades of titanium fulfil the requirements of modern industries and drive progress in technology and sustainability.
