Product description:

Material no. 1.4404 (316L) is an austernitic stainless steel with a chromium content of 17.5% and a nickel content of 12.5%. A molybdenum addition of 2.5% ensures very high corrosion resistance. The material is easy to forge, can be welded very well and is suitable for low temperatures. We can offer you various grain sizes of 316 L powder.

316L steel powder is synonymous with reliability, versatility and innovation. As a variant of stainless steel specifically engineered for its superior corrosion resistance and mechanical strength, 316L offers unrivalled performance in a wide range of demanding industrial applications. From additive manufacturing to medical applications and food processing, our 316L steel powder offers manufacturers and engineers the opportunity to push the boundaries of what is possible.

Superior corrosion resistance

316L steel powder is known for its excellent corrosion resistance, which sets it apart from other types of steel. It is specifically designed to withstand environments susceptible to chloride attack, including seawater and chloride-containing atmospheres. This property makes it an ideal material for marine applications, chemical processing plants and wherever corrosion is a significant problem. The alloy is also resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion, further increasing its reliability and longevity in aggressive environments.

Mechanical strength and ductility

In addition to its exceptional corrosion resistance, 316L steel powder offers an impressive combination of strength and ductility. These mechanical properties are crucial for the manufacture of components that need to withstand high loads without failing. The high strength of 316L facilitates the development of durable and reliable products for the aerospace, automotive and construction industries, while its ductility enables a variety of moulding and fabrication techniques.

Areas of application and innovation

The versatility of 316L steel powder extends beyond traditional applications and is increasingly being used in additive manufacturing and the production of medical implants. In additive manufacturing, 316L enables the production of complex, customised parts with precise specifications that would not be possible with traditional manufacturing methods. In medical technology, the biocompatible and corrosion-resistant properties of 316L ensure the safety and reliability of implants and surgical instruments. It is also a favoured material for the food and beverage industry, where hygiene and corrosion resistance are crucial.

Summary

316L steel powder represents the pinnacle of material innovation, enabling industries to develop products that are both powerful and durable. With its exceptional corrosion resistance, mechanical strength and versatility in application, 316L sets new standards for performance in demanding environments. Whether in additive manufacturing, medical technology or food processing, our 316L steel powder is designed to increase efficiency, improve safety and expand the possibilities for innovation in modern industry.
