Product description:

Titanium grade 5 is a titanium alloy that also contains aluminium and vanadium. In its processed form, the metal powder is characterised by very high corrosion resistance, an optimal ratio between weight and strength and its biocompatibility.

It is used, for example, in medicine or the aerospace industry. The most common particle sizes for use in additive manufacturing are: 10-45µm; 15-45µm; 20-53µm; 45-90µm or 63-120µm. The particle shape should be spherical.

In the pantheon of titanium alloys, Ti-6Al-4V, also known as titanium grade 5, occupies a predominant position. This alloy combines the inherent advantages of titanium, such as lightness and corrosion resistance, with improved mechanical properties achieved through the addition of aluminium and vanadium. Our Grade 5 titanium powder is at the forefront of this innovation, providing industries such as aerospace, automotive and medical with materials of exceptional quality and versatility.

Mechanical properties and areas of application

Ti-6Al-4V is known for its impressive combination of strength, durability and light weight. These properties make it the material of choice for structural components that must function under extreme conditions, such as aircraft engines and frames, high-performance sports cars and biocompatible medical implants. The alloy offers significantly higher strength than pure titanium while maintaining considerable toughness and elongation at break, making it ideal for applications that require high load-bearing capacity.

Corrosion resistance

In addition to improved mechanical properties, Ti-6Al-4V offers exceptional corrosion resistance. This alloy effectively resists exposure to seawater, chloride solutions and a variety of acids and gases, making it an ideal choice for use in chemical processing, power generation and marine applications. Their resistance to corrosion and fatigue extends the life of components and reduces the need for frequent maintenance and replacement.

Additive manufacturing and innovative applications

The suitability of Ti-6Al-4V for additive manufacturing opens up new horizons in the design and manufacture of components. 3D printing processes can be used to produce complex, customised parts with reduced material waste and in less time. This technology enables the production of lightweight structures with optimised geometries that would not be possible with traditional manufacturing methods. In addition, the use of grade 5 titanium powder pushes the boundaries in the research and development of new alloys that fulfil specific requirements for future technological applications.

Summary

Titanium powder Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V) is a key material that drives modern industry and technology. With its unrivalled balance of strength, durability, corrosion resistance and lightness, it meets the demanding requirements of a wide range of applications. From aerospace and medical technology to additive manufacturing, Ti-6Al-4V enables the development and manufacture of products that are more powerful, durable and efficient. In a world constantly seeking superior material solutions, our Grade 5 titanium powder is at the forefront of innovation and performance.
